OK, everyone knows this album inside out. It
is a great soundtrack to one of the most
iconic film musicals of all-time, with John
Travolta and Olivia Newton-John the
perfectly matched screen couple.
Our interest in this album is the title
song, 'Grease', written by Barry Gibb. This
was the one song on the album that was
written to sound contemporary (as opposed to
a 1950s rock n' roll sound), and it has
become something of a classic over the
years. Sung by Frankie Valli, the Barry Gibb
production really shines, and sounds fresh
even today. As this is the 'Deluxe Edition'
of the album, it also includes the single's
B-side, which is an instrumental version of
the track, so you can hear that Barry Gibb
production without Franki Valli's vocals!
The album also features several other
previously unreleased tracks from the film.
