A large number of greatest hits packages
have been released over the past few years,
including
The Record,
Number Ones
and Love Songs.
The Ultimate Bee Gees includes all the major
hits from New York Mining Disaster in 1967
to This Is Where I Came In in 2001. Disc 1
features the more up tempo tracks, such as
Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, Tragedy and
Secret Love, where Disc 2 features slower
tracks such as How Deep Is Your Love, For
Whom The Bell Tolls, Words and Heartbreaker.
In a break with tradition, neither disc is
in chronological order, although Disc 1 at
least broadly follows the decades.
The disc has been released to mark the Bee
Gees 50th Anniversary. And at the time of
writing, surviving brothers Barry and Robin
Gibb have announced that they will begin
performing and recording together again for
the first time since Maurice Gibb's death in
2003. For a group that is ranked fifth best
selling recording artist of all time, this
CD release is
something of a landmark in international
rock music history.
The Ultimate Bee Gees is also available in a
Deluxe Edition with a bonus DVD of
promo videos, TV appearances and live
recordings.
